We are restoring the native korowai of Tauhara Maunga, caring for its geothermal ecosystems, and building thriving habitat so taonga species return, manu become abundant, and the whenua is healthy and sustaining itself once more.

We create safe, meaningful eco-tourism and community experiences that reconnect people with Tauhara Maunga, inviting visitors to walk, learn, and engage as respectful manuhiri to a tīpuna maunga.

Working together across the wider Tauhara landscape to suppress pests, coordinate land management strategies with neighbouring whenua, and ensure our operations are regenerative, so that taiao regeneration becomes self-perpetuating, sustaining itself in relationship with our communities.

Recloaking Tauhara Maunga and the surrounding whenua in native ngahere
We're establishing native ngahere and creating the conditions for taonga species to return, settle and thrive. Early gains in biodiversity and carbon, and early signs the taiao is coming back to life. -

Protecting our rarest ecosystems
The geothermal ecosystems of Tauhara Maunga and the surrounding whenua are among Aotearoa's most unique, and most threatened. We're starting to actively manage and protect them. -

Suppressing pests and building resilience across the landscape
We're establishing pest management and land practices with neighbouring landowners across Tauhara Maunga and the surrounding whenua. Every hectare brought under shared management strengthens the wider effort. -
4.
Growing a Māori-led visitor economy
We're enabling eco-tourism experiences that connect manuhiri to the cultural and ecological significance of this place, with revenue starting to support the restoration mahi. -
5.
Reconnecting Tauhara uri to their whenua
We're establishing employment and education pathways that connect uri to Tauhara Maunga and the surrounding whenua, building the capability that will carry this kaupapa forward. -
6.
Leading with mātauranga Māori and community science
We're starting to integrate mātauranga Māori with science and technology to monitor, learn and adapt, an early step toward an exemplar for indigenous-led environmental innovation.
